TEC brickies gain live work opportunity
Shepparton TEC first year Bricklaying students are demonstrating advanced skills early on into their two year Bricklaying program.
The students have attended the TEC for 23 days and about 110 hours of training and already are creating permanent structures.
During their school holidays students attended the TEC where they completed a walled BBQ enclosure at the William Orr campus, following a full week of classes with their teacher Derek Walter.
Whilst the weather that week was very cold the participation of these students was brilliant and augers well for the future of this teaching program, new to the Shepparton TEC and GOTAFE this year.
Derek is very impressed with the outcome and says, "The boys' skills at this stage of their development are just fantastic. I'm proud of the work they have done and with continued effort like this we should see a number of the boys apprenticed at years end."
The first year group of seven students is made up of:
Tarik Turedi and Baki Unlu - McGuire College
Jack Chalker - Shepparton ACE
Tristan Agius and Justin Shillington - Shepp HS
Brandon Corish and Tate Mifka - Wanganui Park SC
