Certificate II in Plumbing (Prevocational) is a pre-employment course that may lead into a plumbing apprenticeship. It provides students with a basic understanding of what a plumbing and gasfitting tradesperson does as part of the normal day-to-day job. Students who participate in this course would expect to acquire basic plumbing and industry related skills that will be an advantage when seeking employment as a plumbing apprentice or other related occupation.
Career Opportunities
On completion of this course you will have an advanced standing in articulating into a Certificate III Plumbing apprenticeship. This can lead to employment in areas such as Plumbing, Mechanical Services, Gasfitting, Drainage and Roofing.
Entry Requirements
You will need a pass in year 10 and will also be required to sit for a practical and theory test with a final interview to determine suitability for the course.
Duration & Delivery
This is a 15 week course held over 4 days per week.
Assessment
Participants are assessed via completion of required tasks and a demonstration of skills, eg. Written and verbal assignments, practical work, classroom participation, projects and/or written tests.
Practical Placement
The work placement is to be organised by the student. The practical placement enables the student to gain first hand experience within the plumbing field.
Qualification
The Certificate II in Plumbing is a nationally recognised qualification.

Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC)
RCC is an assessment process that involves re-assessment of a previously gained accredited qualification that may no longer be recognised by official bodies. If you have an earlier qualification and have current industry experience, the RCC process will involve assessment of your prior qualification against the current qualification and if successful will result in a full or partial upgrade to the current qualification. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL is an evidence gathering assessment process where an individual's skills and knowledge in a specific vocational area are assessed against a unit or units of a nationally accredited training package. RPL is specifically for applicants who have skills and knowledge in a vocational area that may enable them to gain part or all of a formal qualification thus recognizing their non-formal and informal prior learning.
