Certificate II in Electrotechnology Studies (Pre-vocational) is mainly aimed at school leavers or new entrants into the workforce. It provides the opportunity for those wishing to gain employment in the electrotechnology industry with the required pre-requisite knowledge and skills to gain access to a wide range of apprenticeships offered within this industry. In particular, the course provides training in basic electrical theory, electrical workshop practices, wiring and basic installation skills, the use of hand and power tools and an overview of the electrotechnolgy industry and the range of occupations within it.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for the course, although participants would be best equipped to achieve the course outcomes if they have language, literacy and numeracy skills that are at least equivalent to the National Reporting System (NRS) level 2.

In summary
- read and comprehend a range of simple texts and write a range of short texts in a number of contexts, which may be interrelated:
- use and respond to language around everyday subject matter, which may include some unfamiliar aspects for a range of purposes in a number of contexts. These may be inter-related and deal easily with straightforward calculations, either manually and/or using a calculator.
Duration & Delivery
This course is delivered 4 days per week over approx 16 weeks.
Assessment
Participants are assessed via completion of required tasks and a demonstration of skills, eg. Written and verbal assignments, practical work, classroom participation, projects and/or written tests.
Qualification
The Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Pre-vocational) is a nationally recognised qualification.
Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC)
RCC is an assessment process that involves re-assessment of a previously gained accredited qualification that may no longer be recognised by official bodies. If you have an earlier qualification and have current industry experience, the RCC process will involve assessment of your prior qualification against the current qualification and if successful will result in a full or partial upgrade to the current qualification. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL is an evidence gathering assessment process where an individual's skills and knowledge in a specific vocational area are assessed against a unit or units of a nationally accredited training package. RPL is specifically for applicants who have skills and knowledge in a vocational area that may enable them to gain part or all of a formal qualification thus recognizing their non-formal and informal prior learning.
